Grab Bag Friday - Interview with a Foot Fetishist

Someone on Twitter has been kind enough to let us peek into the world of foot fetishists. Please feel free to comment with any questions, and I'll be happy to pass them along!

If you have an interesting or unique kink or fetish that you would like to  tell the world more about, please feel free to contact me using the form on the right or email me at erotic.skye.blog@gmail.com

  1. In your own words, what is your kink about?

For me it's less of a kink and more of a fetish, so I referred to it as a Foot fetish. Simply put, it's the admiration of a woman's feet, typically but not always within a sexual context. This could include everything from watching/looking, to touching/worshiping, and having the partner interact. I suppose it's easier to understand if you use a more common body part for comparison. For instance, men might focus their attention on breasts, or a nice butt, or long legs. Women may like a 6-pack, broad shoulders, a hairy chest or a hairless chest. It may not go as far as a fetish, but it's something  you prefer and get aroused by to a certain degree. While you might not be able to explain exactly why you like what you like, you do know that you like it. Same truth applies to those who see feet in that light, more or less

  1. What are the different spokes in this kink’s umbrella that you know of?

How many spokes can an umbrella have? Much like any of the fetishes, there is a great deal of diversity as to what a person likes and is interested in. Moving back to the breast examples, it's easy to say a group of people have a thing for breasts, but getting into specifics, it diversifies. Do you like large breasts, small breasts, all-natural, surgery enhanced, perky? This applies to feet as well. A foot fetish person could enjoy large or small, tops or bottoms, smooth sole or wrinkled, stubby toes or long, painted toes or natural, young or mature, shoed / stockinged / barefoot. I doubt you'll ever find a universal acceptance for one type of foot, much as you'd never find acceptance for one type of beauty in anything. When it comes to the physical features of the foot, everyone has their own choice, but the admiration of the foot is still a common thread.

While that deals with appearance, you can certainly go further with this fetish. The touch of a foot, either through giving (a massage) or receiving (a rub against the leg) attracts many people. Some like to see feet dressed up in shoes or stockings. Kissing of the feet, licking of the feet, and yes even the smell of the feet are all common enough, but there isn't one standard that applies to all. Finally, there's  the sexual component to it, using the feet either as a visual stimulus, or a tool (foot job), or a target (a climax target). It's not everyone's cup of tea, but there are certainly members that go for that.

If I was to attempt to summarize, it would be impossible, but it's safe to say that it's a community with much variety

  1. What spoke(s) in particular interest you?

My personal preference is the sole of the foot. I like the look and the feel of a smooth soft sole.  To me, it falls somewhere between interest and foreplay. You see it and it triggers a response.  The feel of the sole through touch. Probably part of the reason why I've learned to give great foot rubs. The kissing and sucking of toes is a bit of a mixed bag for me. It works but only if I'm getting a positive reaction. I respond to reaction with this, otherwise I'm indifferent. I liken it to being able to do something for my partner that others (outside of the foot fetish people) wouldn't enjoy or be willing to do. Now if it brings it to a new level for my partner, then that is a plus, otherwise it's easy enough for me to move on to activities that are more mutual.

Summer time and sandal season are always enjoyable for me, from an observing perspective.  Understand that coming from a colder climate, this sandal wearing season doesn't last more than 3 months. Maybe to grasp it better, think of a sandal as like lingerie to a foot fetish person. Normal lingerie you wouldn't get to see often except with your partner, and sometimes there's even confidence issues involved (Am I sexy in this, because I feel silly). So now envision a mindset where not only is lingerie worn out in public, but there are no confidence issues involved as it's not even given a 2nd thought (though I admit, most ladies do think and enjoy a good pair of sandals). That is how the foot fetish person would see this environment, so like anything fleeting, you enjoy the moment. Never acting on it of course, but appreciating the view.

So to sum up, sandals are a bit of a tease, and smell does nothing for me... but show me a nice sole, and I will show you a smile (secretly or otherwise).

  1. Is there an active online community for your kink?

Most certainly. Much like any interest/hobby/preference or kink, if you can imagine it, there is likely a webpage and more devoted to it. Foot fetish is no different. As an experiment, try googling your favorite female celebrity's name, and tacking "feet" on the end. Welcome to the world of on-line content you never knew (or wanted to know existed).

For a deeper dive, some examples without direct linking:

Wikifeet: It pretty much is what it sounds like. It is a database of pictures and videos of female celebrities, actresses, singers, models, etc, with regards to their feet. Pretty much anyone you can think of is there. Its popularity stems from a) these are famous people so they are known and have a desired quality about them already and b) famous people are more likely to have their picture taken for magazines, shoots, premieres etc, and those very well could involve shots of their feet. And it's the community that collects and contributes these to the inventory. Personally I'm amazed at the time people have to create and support this, but I applaud their efforts nonetheless.

Mousepad feet: This is more of a forum for people in the community. Pictures of celebs and non-celebs are posted and general discussion occurs. As you can imagine, given the diversity of the community, there is often debate as to what is good and not good in the offerings, but from a high level, it tries to be a judgement free zone. One interesting (to me) part of this is their Alert section.  For the non-foot person, you may not realize that there is content out there in mainstream TV, films, commercials. You won't notice the lady who is barefoot walking across the room because it has no relevance to the plot. The foot person though spots it. I am always impressed/awed/disturbed that when I spot such a scene and figure I'm the only one, inevitably someone has already posted this in the Alert section to tell others to watch for it. And without a doubt, it ends up later being put both on this site and Wikifeet. I don't mean it to sound ominous, but people are paying attention out there.

Entrepreneurs: There are plenty of people out there that either share the fetish or recognize the potential to earn from it. In NYC for example, there is an organization that throws foot fetish parties every two or three weeks. Private venue, admission fee, and plenty of companions willing to have their feet worshipped. Obviously there must be a market for this, as the parties keep happening. Also plenty of sites out there bringing buyers and sellers together (a site called Viqeun, now defunct, for example). I have to figure with the onset of Covid, there were many people facing some financial hardship and decided that posing for feet pictures was an acceptable line to cross. To many, it was just a harmless side business and I have to imagine at least a few made some profit just for baring their feet. Not necessarily being part of the fetish, but accepting of it (or at least shaking their head and doing it anyway). One final entrepreneur of note is Rebecca Berardi from New York. Her enterprise is a larger scale with pictures, videos, friends, and (pre-Covid) in person sessions. She's different as she does enjoy the attention and admiration (and likely the money). It's not common in the foot community to find a lady who is very much involved in the scene. Most women (I've met) are ok with it, and maybe even enjoy it, but beyond that no. Rebecca (Becky) is happy in the beyond. And for the concerned readers, I haven't taken part in any of these cash required activities, though I'm well aware of them. For those with the time, the inclination, and the disposable income, there are certainly options for the foot fetisher.

All that to say the community is alive, and like any community, is filled with its fair share of characters.

  1. If you had to guess, about how long have you been interested in this?

I would say it has been since childhood, certainly pre-puberty. That in itself makes me consider that the reasons behind the fetish might be genetic. I certainly recall being interested in feet long before I considered them in a more adult manner. I'm sure that's true for many people with the fetish. It's not something that you just pick up one day. It's always there whether or not it had a chance to really come out. I doubt anyone will claim that they experimented in college and woke up the next day liking feet. I would love to learn one day what triggered it, but for now I accept it has been part of most of my life and will likely continue.

  1. How did you initially learn about it?

I always remember having it, so I'm not sure if learning is the right term. Throughout school, it was present but I kept it hidden for the most part. It wasn't (and in many ways still isn't) acceptable. My girlfriends certainly knew of it, and luckily for me they were accepting. I suppose it took the increased scope of the internet for me to finally "learn" about it. That there were others with the fetish, and sharing information (and pictures). Not that I ever thought I was alone, but it's not something that you can actively enquire about with your friends just in case. But a stranger from across town, the country, the world, well why not.  That's likely when I found out about the different spokes (some good, some bad), and the overall philosophy of we all have a shared interest but have different opinions... and to accept that.

  1. What kept you interested?

You act like there's a choice, lol. What kept you interested in breathing, in walking, in eating. Basically because you can't really shut it off. Beyond that, it's tough to tell why I like feet. Anyone with the fetish can tell you what they like about it and the reactions it gives them, but as to the core of why, that's a tough one. So I remain interested because I'm programmed that way. Maybe another way to think of it, if you currently have a feature preference, do you ever get disinterested in it? Do you get tired of long hair, a sweet smile, an amazing personality? It's something you like and look for, and probably won't fall off your list.

  1. Was there ever a time you thought you took a wrong turn down the rabbit hole? If yes, what happened?

Not really. I mean there are certainly different avenues to the fetish that can be explored, but there aren't many that present themselves as "you'll learn to like this". You either do like it, believe you will, or you really don't. One of the edgier places (relatively speaking) is there is a segment of people that enjoy taking candid foot shots. To put it into context, shoes for the most part are necessary but generally no one prefers them to being barefoot. High heels being a good example of stylish but uncomfortable. So when women get the chance, they will remove them or dangle them, or flip flop them. It's more of a relaxing reflex than a conscious action. And yes, with the advent of camera phones and a motivated individual, there are those that will try to capture those moments. Sitting in the park, waiting for the bus, reading in the library (for the college age crowd). All casual and hopefully subtle enough not to raise suspicion. As an aside, for those of you willing to explore what I mean, feel free to go to YouTube and enter Candid Feet. You'll get results. And I admit I have tried this as well, but I was never very good at it. So while I appreciate the dark, forbidden, naughty aspect of these shots, it's a hole I dug myself out of very quickly. Let those braver than I seek their fortune. |

  1. Was there ever a time that you thought it might not be for you after all? If yes, what happened?

No, the thought never has come up. I am fortunate to have all my partners be willing to entertain this fetish of mine. I haven't had cause to 2nd guess this, or find something different. Generally there isn't really a negative to this, aside from the fact that it's still not a widely accepted fetish. It's certainly the most common from what I understand, but common doesn't make it mainstream. While Quentin Taratino (a noted foot guy) has done a lot to move it towards the mainstream (rewatch the films, and you'll see), it's still not embraced. It's pretty much at the stage in the public's eye that it's a case of just more people around that are abnormal lol.

So given the positive reactions I've received, comfort in knowing that acceptance will come, and at least awareness is out there, I don't entertain giving it up.

  1. Do you think there are any specific reasons you’re interested in this kink? If so, what are they?

Honestly I wish there were reasons that I knew of. It's a great mystery. Why does one person like blondes, and the other brunettes. Why do some go for the tall guys and others the short? For now I just know that I'm interested, and thanks to active participants and the internet, the interest continues to get fed.

  1. If you could clear up any stigmas or stereotypes about this kink, what would they be?

That having the fetish isn't necessarily an all encompassing obsession to most people. There are people on the extreme, like with anything, and people who derive pleasure in feet and only feet. It's just not the case with most. Try to compare it to loving a sports team, the Packers lets say. Plenty of fans enjoy the Packers, some even passionately, but it's rare that you'd find a person painted green and gold to go to work, or wearing a cheese wedge 24/7. That's the extreme, that gets attention, and that gets weird looks and comments. So despite how the media tends to portray people with a foot fetish (a bit pervy), it's not the reality for the majority.

  1. Is there anything else you would like the world at large to know about your kink?

I suppose just keeping an open mind about it. We all have our preferences, quirks, kinks. Having a foot fetish is pretty tame for the most part. Plus the ladies do typically get free foot rubs, so there is a positive.

As well, it's important to know that those with a foot fetish may not be focused on just feet, ignoring everything else. All of the other normal parts and attractive features still apply as well. I'm not going to dismiss an amazing personality, and a beautiful, for the purpose of concentrating on feet. It is always a combination of factors, and it's just a case that feet are there on the list as well.

Finally, I find individual people are more allowing for this fetish as a one on one thing. Either going with it because they enjoy, or enjoy pleasing their partner. Still to others, it's not really a big deal. Maybe at some point, we'll hit the mentality that a foot fetish doesn't even merit an eyebrow raised. Just a shrug of the shoulders and a "It's just feet".
